Basa, The Baby Sailor Bear Basa, the Baby Sailor Bear, is based on an adorable original early 20th century Teddy. In 1908, Steiff introduced a collection of dressed Teddies, including bears in dresses, suits, sweaters, and sailor outfits. Steiff frequently used this grouping of bears on advertising materials as their appeal was so universal. Basa was part of the dressed bear series—and he has not lost any of his charms in almost 100 years! This seaworthy sweetheart comes complete with period nautical garb, including navy wool pants and jumper, and a matching cap. Basa is mohair, five way jointed, and would be a darling companion for Steiff’s 2005 Teddy Kapitan. North American Limited Edition of 1,500 pieces.
